What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO focuses on how search engines crawl, index and rank your pages so a person can find them
in a results list. Generative Engine Optimization focuses on how AI-assisted systems read
and summarize your business when someone asks a question instead of running a search. The
underlying work overlaps heavily; the audience and the output differ.
Does GEO replace traditional SEO?
No. GEO is an extension of good technical SEO, content strategy and clear, consistent
information about your business. A site that is badly structured for search engines will not
be well understood by an AI assistant either.
Can you guarantee search rankings or AI citations?
No, and we would be cautious of anyone who does. We do not control Google rankings, map
placement, or whether an assistant such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity mentions
you. What we can do is improve the clarity, accuracy and accessibility of the information
those systems rely on.
Do you work with existing websites?
Yes. A good deal of this work is improving sites we did not build, including WordPress
sites. We will tell you honestly if the existing site is holding you back badly enough that
rebuilding would cost less than working around it.
Is local SEO only for businesses with a storefront?
No. It applies to any business serving a defined geographic area, including service
businesses that travel to the customer and have no public premises at all. What matters is
that the areas you serve are stated clearly and consistently.
How are SEO results measured?
Through Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and website analytics: impressions, the
search queries surfacing your pages, clicks, how many of your pages are indexed, crawl
issues, and the enquiries or conversions that follow. Exactly what we report depends on the
scope we agree. Measurement is set up first so improvements can be observed rather than
claimed - and note that no measurement makes rankings or AI citations guaranteed.
